Karate: Adult/Teen
Ages (13+)
Karate (literally translated as “empty hand”) is a traditional Okinawan striking art. Emphasis is placed on punching, kicking, and blocking/evasion techniques. Over the course of training, students will learn many traditional open-hand kata (forms), and will practice ippon kumite (a controlled self-defense drill), as well as non-choreographed sparring. Classes generally consist of warm-ups/calisthenics, various drills, kata, and either sparring or self-defense drills.
Karate: Youth
Ages (7-12)
Our youth karate program is similar to the teen/adult track in terms of curriculum, but adjusted to fit the needs of younger students. Students also enjoy occasional martial arts-related games and fun activities, as well as a semi-annual in-house tournament.

Mountain Stream Budo is the premier karate school in Beacon NY and the Hudson Valley!
